Chorley 1 Leigh Genesis 5

A SCINTILLATING display of attacking football saw Leigh Genesis thump Chorley 5-1 at Victory Park.

Genesis were first to show, a Steve Flitcroft strike from the edge of the area thumped against defender Stuart Howson and Jack Dorney remained alert to sweep the ball past a static Jamie Scott for his seventh goal of the season.

Four minutes later and that lead was doubled when Tom Ince sent in a low cross for Jordan Stepien to clinically slot home at the near post.

Chorley pulled a goal back on 55 minutes when Alex Porter flicked in a cross from one-time Genesis man Chris Amadi.

But it took only two minutes for Leigh to restore their two-goal advantage when Jordan Stepien crossed for Ince to head home his ninth goal of the season at the back post.

On 62 minutes Scott’s clearance thumped against Stepien’s back as he attempted to block the ball and trickled back over the line.

A fifth goal for Leigh came in stoppage time when Stepien clinically finished his hat-trick from the penalty spot.

Leigh Genesis: Steven Drench, Lee Woodyatt, Kris King, Mark Ross, Chris Page, Dale Whitham, Jack Dorney (Chris Dykes), Steven Flitcroft, Jordan Stepien, Matt Jansen (Richard Ratcliffe), Tom Ince (Scott Sephton).

Garry Flitcroft’s sixth-placed side are away to Trafford on Saturday, kick off 3pm.
