Leigh Centurions wipe out Hunslet Hawks

LEIGH Centurions are off the mark in the Kingstone Press Championship.

Paul Rowley's men responded to the disappointing performance at Featherstone last week with a resounding 40-0 success against Hunslet Hawks at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday.

Sean Penkywicz's fourth-minute try gave Leigh a good start and they were 22-0 ahead by half time courtesy of further tries from Martyn Ridyard, Mat Gardner and Sam Hopkins, with Ridyard converting three.

Michael Ostick and Ryan Brierley added second-half tries before Hopkins bagged his second in the final minute.

Ridyard completed a haul of six goals from seven attempts in front of 1,419 spectators.
