First win on the road for Leigh Centurions

LEIGH Centurions secured their first Kingstone Press Championship away win of the season at Whitehaven.

The 28-14 success was built on the platform of a 16-0 lead inside 30 minutes, after the game had been delayed an hour due to a power cut.

Although Whitehaven cut the gap slightly with a try shortly before half time, Paul Rowley’s men moved beyond the home team’s reach at 28-6.

Leigh tries came from Martyn Ridyard, Greg McNally, Sean Penkywicz, Simon Finnigan and Tommy Goulden. Ridyard banged over four conversions.
