Leigh Centurions turned over by Sheffield Eagles

A MISERABLE week for Leigh Centurions was capped with a 40-18 home defeat to champions Sheffield Eagles.

Centurions went into the game with the backdrop of the club announcing cashflow problems and the team found themselves 20-0 behind at the break at Leigh Sports Village.

Tries from Ryan Duffy and Sam Hopkins converted by Martyn Ridyard gave Leigh some hope early in the second half but they never got any closer.

Tom Armstrong touched down Sheffield’s fifth try to give the visitors some breathing space again.

Although Duffy bagged his second effort but two tries in the final 15 minutes ensured the night belonged to Mark Ashton’s side.
