LEIGH Centurions will enter the play-offs on the back of a surprise home defeat to Dewsbury Rams.
Paul Rowley’s men threw away a 22-6 lead, conceding three converted tries in the final 18 minutes at the Leigh Sports Village on Sunday.
All was looking good when Leigh turned around 16-6 in front with tries from Stuart Littler (3mins), Tommy Goulden (29mins) and Ryan Brierley (42mins), the latter two converted by Martyn Ridyard.
And when Jonny Pownall crossed two minutes into the second half as a further six points were added it looked as though Centurions were going to end their home league campaign on a winning note.
But Dewsbury had not read the script.
Two converted tries from former Bradford Bulls and London Broncos giant Karl Pryce in the 70th and 72nd minutes completed a 10-minute scoring rally to seal the visitors’ success.
Their other tries came from Kieran Bentley and Kane Hyde, who landed all four shots at goal.
