CENTURIONS boss Paul Rowley expects to meet a side very similar to his own at Swinton Lions on Sunday.

Crowned with the Kingstone Press Championship League Leaders Shield after beating Featherstone Rovers last week, Rowley’s outfit face relegated Swinton on Sunday, kick off 3pm.

And with former Centurions favourite John Duffy now at the helm, Rowley has seen a Leigh-like approach to Swinton’s play.

“On review of them lately they seem to be using a lot of our shapes and structures,” he said. “It will be a bit like us versus us!

“Swinton have changed their style of play and it is distinctly obvious that there are a lot of our shapes running in there now, so I suppose it will be a question of who will execute them best.

“Swinton have had a pretty poor season to be fair, they are now relegated, but as we’ve said before, with the unpredictability of the duals, they make life very tough.”

Lions have a dual-contract agreement with Super League outfit Warrington Wolves and Rowley admits it brings an unpredictability to the fixture.

“Just last week Brad Dwyer got a hat-trick for them and they had four duals in, all good quality and with Super League experience, so it makes them a good team and gives them that extra edge,” he added.

“They lost by a point at Sheffield, so I think they’ve been there, nearly getting results each and every week so we are prepared for a tough game.

“They are always extra motivated when they play us, as is everybody, but we know that!”

Rowley was delighted with his side’s 48-18 Championship win over Featherstone on Friday, completing a league double over the Yorkshire outfit after their 29-10 success at Post Office Road in early May.

Rowley’s side are now looking to make it 23 wins for the season this weekend, having slipped up just once in the Championship so far this campaign.

“The determination was clear,” said Rowley about Friday’s win. “I was proud, so proud. The players have worked hard and got what they deserved, they did it in style.

“In reality last week was just a league match, albeit we’ve got a wonderful League Leaders Shield locked away in the trophy cabinet.”

And Rowley has a full squad to choose from: “Everyone is in contention. This week it’s another league match – we are preparing as normal.”

Elsewhere, Tom Armstrong, Martyn Ridyard and Sean Penkywicz were all selected in the Kingstone Press Championship Team of the Week, continuing their excellent recent form.

However, Ridyard was pipped to Player of the Week by Halifax wing man Gareth Potts.

Paul Anderson’s reserves side have finished as league leaders in their competition after winning 18 of 19 games.

They will go straight into the Grand Final, where they will face either Sheffield or Featherstone.

The reserves bring the curtain down on their league campaign this Friday when they play Sheffield at Hallam University Sports Park on Bawtry Road.
