LEIGH Centurions will be sweating over the fitness of hat-trick hero Gregg McNally this week ahead of their televised Ladbrokes Challenge Cup tie with Warrington Wolves on Saturday.

Team officials will be checking on the fitness of the star full-back throughout the week after suffering whiplash following a challenge by Sam Smeaton in Sunday's 58-18 win against Sheffield Eagles.

Head coach Paul Rowley will be wanting to have his best team ready for the Wolves.

"He'll have a tough week." Rowley said.

The Centurions travel to the Halliwell Stadium knowing the hosts have been on a run of indifferent form but Paul Rowley is preparing for the champion side.

"It's a big challenge isn't it? And we've done well to get as far as we've got and we want to go and give a good account of ourselves against one of the recent success stories in the Challenge Cup.

"They've got a good success rate in the competition, it's a huge challenge but it is one we are looking forward to.

"Some of their players will be really looking forward to playing against Leigh and showcasing their talent.

"It's going to be an open game and that's going to bring the best out of some of their players.

"I'm aware they've got some players coming back to fitness this week, they will field their strongest team, as opposed to recent weeks.

"If you are going to play champion teams, then we want a full compliment of players playing and that's a good experience for us and we are looking forward to it."

"Warrington will leave no stone unturned and prepare really well for this fixture.

"We'll play Warrington at their best and for the second year running we are in the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup, it's a remarkable achievement.

"We've played two Super League clubs and one former Super League club, we've had a tough run, they have had one fixture. It has certainly made it easier for the elite."

The visitors go into the tie in fine form after victory against Sheffield.

Rowley felt the players did well.

He said: "There are some areas that we've been working hard on that we needed to fix up before playing Warrington, or we'd get burned.

"I thought we were outstanding and I thought our discipline was outstanding.

"I thought Sheffield probably got over pumped for it, and it showed.

"Sadly for them they couldn't control it. We did and the referee didn't. I thought he had a very poor performance.

"I've had the game looked over by one of the top officials in our game, and they were dumbfounded as well.

"We are led to believe through referees that the pathway and education of the Championship referees isn't what it should be.

"I'm not sure who the blame lies with but I feel sorry for the Championship referees because they are being put out there to get shot at but they are not getting educated."

Rowley added: "I told officials four weeks ago about a crocodile roll on Jamie Acton – they weren't aware what one of those even was."

"But, now Leeds' Danny McGuire has been done by Marc Sneyd, the world knows, but it wasn't even on their radar."

At the end of last week, the club announced that Tommy Goulden had signed a new deal with the club to keep him at the Sports Village until 2016.

The long-serving forward is now nearing 150 appearances for the club after joining ahead of the 2010 campaign.
