LEIGH Centurions have signed James Green on a two-year contract until the end of November 2018.

The giant forward has joined the club from Hull Kingston Rovers where he made 82 first team appearances and has been regular in the Robins' pack in each of the past three seasons.

With dual registration experience at four clubs, Workington Town, Batley Bulldogs, Gateshead Thunder and Featherstone Rovers earlier in his career Hull born Green, 25, has already made over one hundred senior appearances since his Hull KR debut in 2012.

After graduating through the ranks of community club Skirlaugh, Green came to prominence in the successful Rovers reserve side in 2011 and made his Super League debut against Bradford Bulls in August 2012. In 2014 he won the Rovers Young Player of the Year award.

Leigh Centurions Head Coach Neil Jukes said: "James has played a lot of senior games already and has age on his side. He's ready to stamp his authority within our playing group.

"It is important that we continue to sign young British players who we can not only develop for the here and now but for the years ahead. James is a good, young middle player and as a coaching staff we look forward to working with him and enhancing him even further.

"He is really looking forward to joining the Club and has shown his commitment by moving over here so travelling won't be an issue. We are improving standards on and off the field as we prepare for Super League and James is ready for a whole new challenge."
