HARRISON Hansen makes his 350th career appearance in tonight’s Battle of the Borough against Wigan Warriors hoping it can inspire his Leigh team mates achieve another milestone.

Ex Warrior Hansen has missed Centurions last two games against Castleford and Leeds with concussion.

But he saw a specialist on Wednesday and was confident of getting the all-clear to reach his personal landmark against his first club.

Leigh haven’t beaten the Betfred Super League champions for 33 years since a 24-10 win at Hilton Park. In the reverse derby at the DW Stadium on March 3, Wigan won 20-0.

Shaun Wane’s men are in an uncustomary slump, after collecting only one point from a possible 12.

However, Leigh kick-off on the bottom of the pile after Widnes’s mini revival, including a 26-6 win over Catalans, lifted them to 11th.

They also play four successive away matches after hosting Wigan and don’t return to the LSV until July 23 against Salford.

“It is a huge game,” agreed Hansen whose 250th career appearance was with the Cherry and Whites.

“They are struggling largely because they have more than half the first team out injured.

“So, if ever there was a time to get one over on Wigan this is it when they have a lot of injuries and they are coming off a run of defeats.

“Hopefully as well my 350th, it will give the lads a boost.

“ We know we have been disappointing.

“We need to start winning to get that confidence back especially with it looking like we will be in the Middle 8s.”

Hansen has played 45 games for Leigh since 2016. He appeared 52 times for Salford, 242 times for Wigan and completes his 350 with New Zealand (1 game), Samoa (8 games) and The Exiles (1 game).

“It’s massive achievement because not many players reach 350 games. And it’s quite fitting it is against Wigan.

“I made my debut for them against Wakefield when I was 18.

“I came off the bench to play left side, second row.

“Opposite me was David Solomona and he was huge.

“I remember Denis Betts telling me ‘don’t think you have got to do everything.’ “But I went round trying to tackle everything like a headless chicken.

“I was absolutely shattered in about 10 minutes.”

Despite Hansen’s return, Leigh will again be without Gareth Hock, Micky Higham, Willie Tonga, Adam Higson and Ben Crooks-the latter duo through suspension.

Skipper Sean O’Loughlin is a doubtful for Wigan with hamstring trouble while Liam Farrell, who played his 200th game at Hull, is suspended for verbally abusing referee Phil Bentham.
