LEIGH Centurions' Betfred Championship game with Featherstone Rovers at Leigh Sports Village (3pm kick off) is expected to go ahead as normal on Sunday, despite the weather.

Leigh Sports Village has under-pitch heating and the stadium management are doing their utmost to keep the surrounding areas clear.

Leigh Centurions Chairman Mike Latham said: “It is at times like this where our outstanding facility at Leigh Sports Village really comes to the fore.

“Our state of the art playing surface benefits from underground heating and the support of the Club by Leigh Sports Village has seen them utilise this to enable the players to train on the surface whilst all outside pitches are frozen.

“This also means that our fixture is extremely likely to go ahead with only external access being able to cause a problem, but we don’t envisage that to be the case.

“Tickets are on sale at the ticket office but given the serious weather conditions we would advise people to purchase by phone or online where possible and only travel to the Stadium if necessary.

“We would also advise on matchday to allow additional time to make your journey and hope all of the rugby community stays safe during this severe weather period.”
