LEIGH Centurions have entered a dual registration partnership with Betfred League One club Workington Town for the remainder of the 2018 season.

Centurions head of rugby Keiron Cunningham and caretaker coach Kieron Purtill have worked closely with Workington Town head coach Leon Pryce on the partnership.

Purtill said: "We have several players in our squad who need game time and with Keiron and Leon knowing one another well from their playing days at St Helens it is a good fit.

"We have been unfortunate in that our first two reserve games were called off due to the weather and we only have a handful of reserve games scheduled over the next few weeks so the opportunity to develop this partnership was a sensible option.

"Workington are a good club steeped in history and tradition with a good young coach making his way in his chosen career.

"Importantly Workington are in a position where they are keen to use our players and give them the game time they need so there will be mutual benefits.

"We will continue to monitor our players' performances during their time at Workington and they will remain part of our full-time training squad during the week."
