LEIGH Centurions have signed former Great Britain and England prop forward Ryan Bailey from Workington Town.

The well-travelled prop tasted Grand Final glory six times with Leeds Rhinos will be looking to sign off his career at Leigh.

Head of Rugby Keiron Cunningham said: "Ryan is keen to maintain full time rugby, he lives on our doorstep and has a point to prove. He wants to finish his career on his terms on a high with a big achievement.

"He has been in six winning grand finals so knows what the big stage is all about.

"He has had his issues but as with everyone in life there becomes a time when we face up to that and then it can be a very powerful weapon.

"We are still actively looking to strengthen our middle unit since the loss of Patty (Peterika Vaivai, with injury) and will continue to do so.

"I am looking forward to Ryan joining us. He is a tough, aggressive and powerful human being who takes some stopping. I am sure the Leigh Centurions fans will make him very welcome."

Bailey will wear squad number 29 for Leigh Centurions and is available for selection for this Sunday's Ladbrokes Challenge Cup-tie against London Broncos at LSV (3pm).

Bailey, 34, won six Super League Grand Final winners rings in a stellar playing career with Leeds Rhinos and earned a testimonial at Headingley Carnegie during 2014 when he also made his 300th appearance for the Rhinos.

After making his Leeds debut as an 18-year-old in 2002 he played a leading part in the Rhinos' grand final successes of 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012. He also played for the Rhinos in seven other major finals, the grand final defeat in 2005 and in six Challenge Cup Finals between 2003 and 2014, earning a coveted winner's medal in the 23-10 victory over Castleford at Wembley in 2014.

Bailey also made his Great Britain debut in the 2004 Tri-Nations and represented England two years later. He also represented Yorkshire in 2003.

Since leaving Leeds at the end of the 2014 season Bailey has played for Hull KR, Castleford Tigers, Warrington Wolves, Toronto and Workington Town and has over 350 career games under his belt during an illustrious career.
