Ian Millward's Challenge Cup victory reaction

Ian Millward on Leigh Centurions’ 52-4 victory over Wath Brow Hornets on Sunday:

I thought it was quite interesting that it was our lowest completion rate in a while, but there wasn't a lot of intensity and we still scored 50 points - that was pleasing.

It was important we used the game as a way to gain a bit of confidence and get a bit of fluency in our game. We went and achieved that.

It looks like we’ve no major injuries from it, just a couple of bumps and ankle injuries, that was good. We were also able to give Robbie Paul and Stuart Donlan a bit of a rest too.

Ricky (Bibey) has been available for a week now but I wanted to bring him in for this game, just slowly and he was saying that he was glad we did that, he needed it. He just showed that he's going to be a big player for us. He'll go good and is a pretty skilled sort of player.

What people don't realise is that we don't have a big squad, so the only other fit player we had was Ian Mort.

When you take the four dual contracts out, and I did rest Duffy but you take them out and Nash, Meekin and Higson out, then we only had one fresh player.

We work on a low 20 man squad so it’s important how we rotate the minutes. We are very concious of the minutes in our players.

It was difficult with having had a game in midweek, that was a heavy pitch too.
