RMI all set for end of an era

LEIGH RMI are ready to play their final ever game at Hilton Park on Saturday when they host Blyth Spartans.

The already-relegated club are moving to a new 12,000 capacity stadium at the Leigh Sports Village for their UniBond Premier League campaign next season.

Although the Railwaymen have only played at the ground for the past fourteen years since ceasing to exist as Horwich RMI, the ground will hold many fond memories for the club's faithful band of supporters.

One such memory is the visit of Kevin Keegan's Fulham for an FA Cup First Round replay in November 1998 that saw over 7,000 fans in attendance for a fixture that was televised live by Sky Sports.

Other high-points include league success as the club went from the UniBond into the Conference.

The club are offering cut-price admission for any supporters wishing to witness the end of an era.

Admission will cost a reduced £7 for adults, £4 for OAPs and students, and just £1 for under-16s.
