LEIGH Miners Rangers under nines rugby league team ground out a 32-8 victory over Langworthy Reds, who boasted a much larger pack.

In the first half Miners had to defend their line several times against the charging Langworthy players but the defence held firm and some strong running from Cian Tyrer, Tom Day and Joe Daintith set up good field position for Calum Coleman to score a first half hat-trick.

Langworthy hit back with a try early in the second half before further tries from Aaron Murray, Ben Kindley and William Lynch put the game out of the Reds’ reach.
