Atherton Colls 1 Prescot Cables 1
OLD NWCFL rivals Prescot Cables visited Alder House for the first friendly fixture.
Cables looked sharp in the first half and the Colls crossbar was rattled from a fine 20-yard strike but the goal from the follow-up header was ruled out for offside.
As the half progressed Colls started to get a foothold in the game but they were first to concede in the second half.
A miscued free kick somehow reached an attacker at the far post and he prodded home. Undeterred, Colls cranked up the pressure.
An equaliser came with 10 minutes remaining, Jonathan Bridge smashing in a beauty from the edge of the box.
This inspired the team and Paul Shanley hit a post from 15 yards after a mazy run.
On Saturday Colls visit West Lancashire League champions Blackpool Wren Rovers, kick off 3pm, then host Atherton Town in the GoldLine Trophy on Tuesday kick off 7.45pm.
