ATHERTON LR had a couple of new signings on show in their opening GoldLine Trophy Group One win at Prestwich Heys.
Rob Swanton from neighbours Hindsford and Neil Davies, who joined the Crilly Park squad from Vodkat League club Ashton Athletic, were involved, while Niall Callaghan and Kieron Halliwell were on view having returned to the Atherton fold.
But it was another returnee, Phil Howard, who came off the bench to score two second-half goals after Prestwich had equalised at 1-1.
Atherton had gone ahead in the seventh minute thanks to an own goal.
