Sale 20 Tyldesley 27
SALE belied their bottom-of-the-table position but could not prevent Tyldesley recording their fourth consecutive victory on Saturday.
Tyldesley were the fastest out of the blocks, playing some scintillating rugby from the outset.
Within three minutes Worsfold had converted a penalty after Sale were penalised at a scrum.
Only three minutes later a quick tap from Dickinson saw a long pass from Twizell gathered and Jack Williams took the ball to within five metres of the line, offloading to the ever-impressive Fetherston who crossed for Tyldesley's opening try which Worsfold converted.
Soon afterwards Worsfold lost control of the ball as he crossed the line but made amends five minutes later.
A quick tap was taken after Sale were once again penalised at a scrum and he crashed over to score, adding the extras to push the visitors to a 17-point lead after 15 minutes.
Tyldesley started to turn the screw but failed to convert the chances they were creating.
Perhaps they thought it was going to be a walk in the park but something caused the visitors to take their foot off the gas.
On 27 minutes, and after almost four-and-a-half hours of league rugby this season, Tyldesley's line was breached.
Sale narrowed the gap to 17-10 with a penalty goal on the stroke of half time.
It was important that Tyldesley took back a hold of the game and within two minutes of the re-start winger Corbett scored his fifth try in four games when he outpaced the defence to touch down a well-weighted Dickinson kick to the corner.
Tyldesley suddenly slipped back into the bad habits that epitomised the latter stages of the first period.
The hosts took full advantage to create a well-worked overlap for an unconverted score and brought themselves to within seven points.
Tyldesley increased the tempo and a quick penalty tap led to three forward drives putting Sale on the back foot, giving Worsfold and Dickinson the chance to combine with the latter scoring Tyldesley's bonus point try.
A needless penalty paved the way for a well executed catch and drive to bring Sale within seven points again.
Tyldesley dug in and closed out the game well in the last quarter.
