LEIGH swimmer Louise Watkin increased her London 2012 medal tally to one silver and two bronze after producing a superb final 50m to snatch third in the women's S9 200m individual medley at the Aquatics Centre.

The 20-year-old City of Salford Swimming Club member was trailing in seventh position heading into the final lap, but produced a superb freestyle effort over the final 50m to narrowly pip fellow Briton Claire Cashmore to the bronze in a time of 2mins 37.79seconds.

It is the third London 2012 Paralympic medal for the Leigh resident, who also won bronze as a member of the 4x100m relay and grabbed silver with a brilliant swim in the S9 50m freestyle on Wednesday.

Watkin now turns her attention to the next two events in her Paralympic calender, with the 100m S9 freestyle heats starting at the Aquatics Centre at 9.40am tomorrow, Friday, and the final scheduled for 5.37pm later that afternoon.

She then tackles the S9 100m breaststroke heats on Saturday at 9.40am, with the final taking place at 5.37pm the same day.
