Rainhill High School

Rainhill High School is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive with 1545 Students, including more than 250 in the Sixth Form.

Our School Mission Statement is Reach for the Sky @ Rainhill High. Words chosen by the Students, that we believe, epitomise our ambitions.

Our Students are genuinely at the heart of everything we do. We want them to be happy, and we will nurture them to be the best they can be.

Rainhill is a popular school. Our students come mainly from the Rainhill and Nutgrove parts of St Helens, but about 30% come from Knowsley, Widnes or Warrington homes. We are consistently oversubscribed. We are proud of our Students achievements in examinations, we are proud of the quality of relationships at the school and we are proud of the opportunities we give our pupils. However, we are not arrogant or complacent. We want to be the best comprehensive in the North West, and to do this we listen, work hard, innovate and are self critical.

‘Reach for the Sky @ Rainhill High’

The major strength of our school is that we work in genuine partnership with all of our parents and welcome you coming into school to discuss your child. We listen and we care.

The quality of relationships at the school are excellent and all our students have a Form Tutor, Assistant Head of Year and a Head of Year who stays with them throughout their time at Rainhill. We have a specialist team of Sixth Form tutors to guide and support Key Stage. We also employ an Anti-Bullying Officer to counsel and listen to students on the rare occasions when there are disagreements. We do not tolerate bullying, we act quickly.

Rainhill learning village

Rainhill High School is a Trust School. We are founding members of Rainhill Learning Village Trust. The other partners are Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and St Helens College.

We have an excellent track record of success in educating young people and pride ourselves on our personal approach. We care passionately about developing key skills in young people so that students can develop and flourish. We value individuals and work with you to design a learning programme that suits your strengths and leads to progression. Thorough advice, guidance and support ensures students are challenged in a positive environment and our aim is that every student fulfils their potential and achieves success.

You will have opportunities to expand your social, recreational, sporting and cultural interests. Extensive enrichment opportunities allow students to develop new skills, meet new people and broaden their horizons.

We are very proud of Rainhill Sixth Form Centre and its reputation as an institution that combines academic success with personal care and support.

If you would like to find out more about what we have to offer please come to our Open Evening, where you can meet both staff and students. Alternatively, please phone to arrange an appointment where you can speak to staff and look around the facilities.

Our strengths lie in that we are able to offer: an extensive and flexible range of courses; yet retain small class sizes; and a friendly community atmosphere. It is the students and staff that make our sixth form so special and if you decide to join we hope you will make us even stronger.
