‘Bin culture’ needs change
11:27am Thursday 14th February 2013 in Letters
HAVING read three readers’ complaints about bin collections and non-collections, it comes as no great surprise to me that people are not getting the service they deserve as council tax payers.
Valerie Agius was stunned at the attitude of refuse collectors and Mrs B Jones was left without any service at al.
Sadly the old saying of ‘put a man in uniform and he becomes an enemy of the people’ is very appropriate. Put a man in a hi-vis vest and the same applies.
One can tell from the way in which they approach their job that they are not in the business of offering a service, they are just doing a job.
We need a cultural change of attitude from the refuse collection workers and their management.
Endlessly I have complained to Wigan Council about attitudes of workers of this service, to no avail.
