REFERRING to the recent letter about parking past the hospital, I am writing for the greater majority not the selfish few, to get some justice for the sick and disabled.

From Leigh Infirmary towards Lilford park and right up to Old Hall Mill Lane (red wall), there are no need for parking restrictions apart from where the residents live, who now have double yellow lines outside their homes.

This will now stop any congestion and blocking of driveways, so there should be no parking zones on the opposite side of the road, which is commonsense.

There is adequate room for emergency vehicles and refuse collection. Where I live the refuse wagon has to back into a narrow street and despite parked cars no accidents or damage to vehicles has occurred in 36 years.

We all know that the car parks at the hospital are no longer adequate for the recent opening of a doctors’ surgery and a separate walk-in-centre ect, they were full even when we could park on the road.

Incidentally no-one owns the road outside their house and there is no law against others parking there.

As for slighting hospital workers and pensioners, we all pay road tax and pensioners don’t get off lightly, their pensions are taxed, they have worked hard to receive them and many spend a good deal of their income looking after grandchildren and are now unable to get parking space to take them to Lilford park.
