CAN I please, through your paper, make an appeal to the people who use The Pelican Centre in Tyldesley and park their cars on Factory Street.

Please have some consideration when parking your cars on the street.

There are some people who are blocking or partially blocking residents’ drives.

As a parent myself I appreciate that you could be on a tight schedule and if you are running late for a swimming lesson the last thing you worry about is whether you are parked straight but you are breaking the law if your vehicle is blocking access to someone’s property.

How would you like it if it was you?

The worst culprits seem to be those in 4x4s or similar big cars who don’t seem to comprehend how much space their car needs, they park in front of the small wall between my neighbour’s drive and mine and either their back end is sticking out or the front end is over the drives.

This happens even if they park up in a hurry or not. I came home last evening to find a car partially blocking my drive and when the lady came back to her car after taking her child to the pool I asked her why she had blocked my drive – her response was that there was no car there when she parked up! I know I am not the only resident at the bottom of the street who is getting fed up with this and I have complained to the council.

Please be considerate of the residents.
