I WAS very pleased to read the article submitted by Damian Kershaw regarding the railway line in Leigh which was taken away from us all those years ago and the history appertaining to this.

Many years ago I was a traveller on this train from Liverpool to Leigh and back each day for quite a few years.

When my husband and I decided to marry we had to find a town with the correct travel assistance for both of us.

We decided on Leigh, and had found the house we would buy and the transport available to both of us.

I was a secretary in Liverpool and loved my job and my husband worked for a large building contractor in Manchester, so we bought our house in Leigh and everything was great, then bang went our railway link and our jobs.

What really amazed us was that the largest town in the area had lost its train and all the small villages had kept theirs.

It really makes one wonder why and how this could happen.

Come on somebody in charge, let us have the railway line back.

Do you realise how many people live here and would love to be able to use the train to visit their relations, besides the revenue we would realise? Why let Manchester get all the gains?

PS REGARDING the walk-in centre in Leigh. I am one of those unfortunate people who dread getting told to go for a blood test, which is pretty regular at the moment.

Two hospitals could not help so I made an appointment with above. A lovely nurse called my name and lo and behold within five minutes I was done and dusted.

This is my future blood letting place now. Many thanks to that lovely nurse.
