READING of Brian’s retirement as news editor and reporter of the Leigh Journal set me thinking of the similarities between him and the late Fred Dibnah. Like Fred, Brian is a practical man and a born tinker.
He also has a good knowledge of local history and the nation’s great industrial past, and would have been an ideal candidate to be on our screens if Fred had never been born.
Brian demonstrated this by publishing a few of my own articles on the above-mentioned subjects, interpreting them as I wished, and usually adding his own brand of humour. I wish you a long and happy retirement Brian, also, good luck with your ‘wheeling and dealing’ – you will certainly need it in good old Tyldesley.
