WHAT a wonderful letter from Ian Corbett.

He obviously did not make any comments on all the letter but just picked out points so he could have a go at me.

I don’t know if he had anything to do with this bike ride but he seemed to know that all major road junctions and traffic lights are marshalled.

I saw nothing in Astley that this charity ride was going to take place.

If he is connected with it will he please make sure that the people of Astley are given previous notice of future bike rides.

Also will he make sure that the cyclists stick to their side of the road.

As said previously, I was met by packs of them several times coming down my side of the road causing me to swerve several times to miss them.

If I had hit them that would have been a different story.

There has been nothing to tell me that the bike ride was for Christies.

Also he states that I stated that cyclists should take some form of test .

I stated this and they should have some form of insurance. He tried to make a joke of this.

To drive a car I need a licence, road tax and insurance.

If I hit a cyclist with my car they would probably sue me.

I make no bones about this if a cyclist runs into my car while getting up to their antics, I will definitely sue them.

The comment that cycling contributes to the UK economy does not come into the argument of the antics they get up to while riding their bikes.

No comment on the facts that some cyclists ride through red traffic lights or ride on the pavement to get round them.

Also no comment on cyclist riding round blind corners on the pavement at speed. Did we hit a nerve with this one?

Just a couple of facts for Mr Corbett.

Next week I will be visiting Christies with a member of my family and I will be leaving a donation before I leave.

Also I cannot walk to the paper shop as I am disabled. All I can say is if you are replying to a letter, read it all and comment on all of it and do not launch an attack on the writer.
