BUS priority means that cars, vans and trucks will always have to wait for buses crossing these busy vital main roads – Holden Road, Astley Street, Hough Lane and Mosley Common Road.

We have calculated (see our full calculations in earlier Leigh Journal) that there could be 10,000 vehicles waiting over an eight-hour working day for an average of two minutes.

This equates to 333 hours or 41 working days in one working day of unnecessary carbon dioxide emission that Wigan Council is always banging on about. This is deliberate, avoidable carbon pollution.

If our calculations are slightly out, it is still a chronic situation.

The busway is disrupting a whole community and is another restriction on our right to freedom of movement and has all the hallmarks of Germany 1939.

We are also tired of their meaningless and nebulous letters and answers.

I believe that the priority really should be put to a public inquiry. There is just too much personal suffering involved.
