THE letter from A Jones concerning the universally discredited busway – ‘complainers know nothing’ – is naive in the extreme.

Using words like ‘improved junctions’ cutting road commuting times is ridiculous, considering all roads along the route will now be crossed on the flat, with traffic lights regularly stopping traffic – causing increased environmental pollution and congestion.

As for ‘half a year of pain’,’better than years of disruption’ if rail or tram was chosen just doesn’t add up.

If the existing embankments were used and bridges reinstated where roads cross the route, the opposite effect would have happened.

I predict those who are responsible for this debacle will be rapidly back-peddling over the issue with elections due both locally and nationally in May.

Unfortunately for us (and them) it is now too late, with vast sums of public money wasted. Leigh/Tyldesley won’t be getting what they have always wanted soon thanks to Labour.
