I AGREE with Richard Tonge’s letter of February 19 about Astley Green and the green on either side of Green Lane.
My father’s family came here from Penrith years ago and had goats etc just off Lower Green Lane, Astley.
I once worked taking papers for the Tonge family delivering on Great Moss Lane and Rindle Road in the 1950s.
Dr John Lunn once said we in Astley should be with Leigh and nowt to do with Tyldesley (Bongs) the old UDC council.
