WHAT a pity that Wigan Council has been named ‘best in country’.
It might be true that the council is the best to work for – I do not know about that.
What I do know is that Wigan Council displays a lack of wisdom and discernment, as well as a lack of empathy in the way it treats people who fall behind with their council tax payments.
Just because the council is within its rights to set bailiffs on people, it does not make it the right thing to do.
When a person meets every request to prove in writing that they cannot pay on demand what the council wants, why would a council with a heart cause added stress and financial costs to an already very stressful situation?
Wigan Council, what a shameful entity.
