OUR over-ambitious MP Andy Burnham has high expectations for himself.

After putting his name forward to become leader of the Labour Party, unfortunately he lost out to the loony left within Labour.

Now he has decided to throw his hat into the ring to become the new mayor of Greater Manchester to make Manchester a beacon of social justice and to make it the European city of the world.

Well, if he does become the new mayor let us hope he puts more time and effort into Manchester than he has with Leigh.

Andy has a job for life as MP for Leigh. Once you get a seat like Leigh you will never lose it.

But obviously this isn’t enough for Andy. He wants to change the entire north west of England and the Labour Party, maybe even the world.

But what happens when the old lefty Jeremy Corbyn gets booted out as Labour leader when he loses the party the 2020 election?

Will Andy want to have another go at being leader?

How on earth does he plan to juggle his work as MP of a growing town like Leigh and as a mayor of a very large city?

One post will be neglected and no doubt it will be Leigh.

He won’t have time to gain Leigh a 21st century rail line. He couldn’t manage to get us a rail line back in 2014 but blessed us with a pathetic busway that will fold within time.

It is a total waste of money.

Andy is ambitious and I support anyone with ambition, but not when you have a good, well paid job for life.

If you do not become the new mayor of Greater Manchester Mr Burnham, can you please hang your hat up and enjoy the job you have been blessed with.
