I AM trying to trace relatives of George Nowell, who was killed aged 18 in the First World War on May 2, 1917.
George was from Atherton and his parents were William and Lucy Nowell, who lived at 27 Red Street in the town.
My grandfather was present when George died of wounds in the trenches in France.
Both served in the Manchester Regiment 2nd/5th Battalion.
I wonder if there are any living relatives in the area interested in him as my grandfather mentioned him in his war memoirs.
If anyone can help please call me on 07480 574309 or e-mail me at lesliew52@sky.com.
