I HAD a questionnaire sent to me the other week on behalf of Wigan Council.
There were 101 questions and more on all aspects of the borough, yet not one question on an important safety issue concerning all pedestrians.
The problem of bikes on pavements, and to a slightly less degree mobility scooters, is getting worse yet no-one does anything about it. They are silent and potentially deadly.
From talking to others it seems everyone is fed up with them. If you haven’t been hit you will have had lots of near misses.
I did not fill in the questionnaire. I sent it back with a letter saying that I will fill it in if the council does something about the bikes and mobility scooters.
I think I’ll be waiting a long time.
The council and police need to tackle this problem.
