WASPI members have not given up our battle and our next step is presenting a motion to Wigan Council for it to support our national campaign, which more than 70 councils across the UK have already done.
This will take place on November 2, where Cllr Pat Draper will speak and present the motion – of fair transitional arrangements for all women born on or after April 6, 1951, who have had to deal with the state pension age increase – to a full council but we have been invited to be in the gallery.
We will indeed be there proudly displaying our WASPI sashes.
If all councils accepts the motion then central Government may have to redress the wrong which has been done to us 1950s women and to award us the transitional pension payments which were promised.
We would also love any ladies out there affected by this to join our group.
Just e-mail LPGClosedgroup@ outlook.com, or if on Facebook they can go to LPG WASPI and ask to join.
Pat Morgan
Representative of the Leigh branch of WASPI
