I HAVE learnt through personal experience that no-one who volunteers for any charity ever does it with the expectation of getting any type of recognition for what they do.
I started being a volunteer when I retired from work as something to do as a hobby, but I soon realised that my new hobby was putting something back into the community, and hopefully making a difference to people’s lives.
Now that particular volunteering opportunity has closed for me and at the age of 70 I am left sitting at home all day without a purpose or a sense of direction.
I wonder how many other active elderly people there are sat at home like me.
There must be a wide range of local volunteering opportunities out there.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a local organisation which matches people like me with volunteering opportunities?
