SURELY the time is long overdue for our so-called representatives (councillors) to put a total ban on the parking of company vehicles on our streets nightly and throughout the weekend and public holidays.

Those vehicles are the sole responsibly of the company in all respects, which should include a provision for parking.

I don’t care what company it is and whether it is large and government sponsored.

If the councillors are unable to do this I suggest they resign and let someone be elected who will do what a majority sorely desire.

They were elected to instigate what people want, not their opinion based upon ‘I must be careful who I upset’.

I hereby draw the attention of Wigan borough councillors to the undesired parking of company vehicles on both council and private estates.

With people parking company vehicles, usually vans, on such estates they are getting free travel and free parking and the company is getting free advertising through the livery on the vehicle.

And if the vehicles are being parked in estates companies can get away with not providing parking facilities at their premises, which is surely something they should be responsible for.

Streets and avenues were not built for such a purpose.

Neither do families elect to reside where their outlook is restricted outside their lounge window.

It also causes parking access exit problems for residents and obstructs the pavements, which are meant for pedestrians, not for parking on illegally.

I say the time is nigh for the council to apply strict adherence to a by-law without delay.

In this day and age of human rights no resident should be expected to suffer from this.

It should be monitored by wardens/cameras to ensure it is implemented.

Think of the revenue being lost.
