THERE was a very interesting letter from Derek Bullock in last week’s Journal in which he accused our MP Andy Burnham of failing politically in his career.

I don’t think you can call it failing after holding two front bench posts while in government, one a very profile job as secretary of state for health.

Then he goes on to slate Ed Miliband and Jeremy Corbyn.

Personally I think Mr Burnham is by far the best MP we have had for years.

Perhaps Mr Bullock has forgotten the long years of silence by the two previous incumbents Lawrence Cunliffe and Harold Boardman.

A major triumph for Mr Burnham is Leigh Sports Village, which is absolutely fantastic.

Mr Bullock advises us to vote for Conservative Sean Anstee.

Vote Conservative! Don’t make me laugh Mr Bullock.

Wasn’t it a Conservative government led by Margaret Thatcher that systematically destroyed the entire manufacturing base of the north of England in the 1980s?

And isn’t it a Conservative government that is presently dismantling the welfare state as well as seemingly running down the NHS on purpose so that it can be conveniently sold off to its chums in the city?

Thanks for the advice but I will be voting for Mr Burnham.
