IN response to the letter in last week’s Journal headlined ‘our island is overcrowded’, I totally agree.
I believe our little town of Leigh is becoming a magnet for people from Eastern Europe and Africa.
On a recent trip to Leigh Library there was one member of staff dealing with the public. The other three were busy organising the weekly free English lesson class.
I saw around 50 people, mainly young males from Sudan, enjoying the free class funded by the Labour-run Wigan Council.
There are newspapers in the library in Arabic but no money seems to be spent on new books.
You would be forgiven for thinking the council chose to keep the library open solely to aid new arrivals.
