I HAVE parked at Leigh Town Hall on two occasions, once in my husband’s car and once in mine.

I was told I could use a letter as proof that I have been given a blue disability badge.

I did that on one occasion and had the actual blue badge on the other.

Both times I paid for an hour’s parking as you get two hours for free.

The first time was in March and the second was in April.

To my horror I came back to my car to find a parking fine on both occasions.

I immediately phoned up and was told that it would be looked into.

They also said that the cameras were not working, so CCTV could not help me, but that I need not worry.

Due to my illness I did not chase this up and upon opening my mail I found parking fines which had doubled in price.

I phoned again and was told that all appeals have to be in writing.

I am appealing but I feel that it is disgusting to treat people with mental and physical problems so poorly.

If anyone could help me and other disabled badge holders in this regard it would be much appreciated.

If you can help you can contact me via the Journal.
