I WRITE to praise the brilliant teamwork of Atherton Environmental Projects group volunteers and St Philip’s CE Primary School’s pupils and staff.
We all worked as a team to replant bluebell gardens on Bolton Road recently. We spent all day preparing and replanting the area and really enjoyed it.
The children were fantastic, with each class coming out to help.
The garden won an award for being outstanding last year – we were so proud.
AEP volunteers have also worked with councillors on the garden area on the corner of High Street, tidying it up and adding a bit of colour.
We would like to do more work on this site but we need to wait as the cherry trees need to be removed due to fungus on the trunk.
Many areas are looking great all around the town and I would like to thank everyone who is involved.
I would also like to encourage more people to get involved with the different projects that are being undertaken in Atherton and Atherleigh.
Thanks also to the two local businesses which supported us on the day.
Cllr Karen Aldred
