I WOULD like to pass a comment on the recent visit to Leigh Market and the taking out of a stall by the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) for Wigan.

The agenda, as I understood it from reading the Journal, was a talk by chief officer Trish Anderson and chairman Dr Tim Dalton at 11.30am followed by an opportunity for residents to ask them questions.

I could not leave work at noon, so I got there at 12.10pm and was just in time to witness the dust clearing after their seemingly rapid departure.

However there were staff who belong to the CCG milling around the stall.

I told one that I was disappointed at missing them and having the opportunity to put a question to them.

I then asked if she had been present during the talk and she acknowledged that she had.

She had a CCG uniform on and I asked her if she could tell me what was said or announced and she replied she could not remember anything of what was said.

I am left with the conclusion that the session did not amount to much of a consultation.

It was probably the equivalent of dipping your toe in the sea and then saying I have just been in the sea’.
