Reduced to a suburb

SIR, As a born Leyther, who has been in Africa for over 40 years, I expected to return to a town that had progressed with time.

All I find is that it has been reduced to a suburb of Wigan, of all places.

The upgrading of the town centre to keep up with times must be in a time warp.

One of the most disgraceful things that stands out is the lack of toilet facilities. With a large population of senior citizens this should be a priority.

I hope someone, somewhere will take action, this is 2010, not the dark ages.

If the excuse is that the facilities are abused why not lower unemployment and install an attendant.
