Thanks to all except the lowlife thief

ON behalf of the Atherton Branch of The Royal British Legion I would like to offer our grateful thanks to the people of Atherton who supported this years 'Poppy Appeal' and the tremendous turn out at the cenotaph for the Remembrance Day Service.

This year sees our 90th anniversary supporting the service and ex service community and this could not have been achieved without the support of the public and for this we are truly grateful and we look forward to your continued support.

On a sad note we had one of our Poppy collecting boxes stolen from a town centre shop and to say the feelings within the branch towards the person/persons responsible are quite hostile would be an understatement to say the least, apart from the loss of much needed funds I feel sorry for the people whose donations have been stolen.

Peter Powell, Poppy Appeal Organiser, Atherton branch Royal British Legion.
