What a great day in Tyldesley

WHAT a great day in Tyldesley for the Rememberance Day parade.

There was a huge turn-out, Tyldesley Band with over 30 players terrific as usual and all superbly marshalled by Keith Houghton M.B.E.

Quiet was called for at start time and we could all hear his commands. At the top of Hough lane I tried to count the people actually marching which I reckoned to be six to seven hundred. Inside the cemetry there must have been something like 1,500 people when the parade joined them.

An innovation this year, all the roads onto the parade route were closed so that Manchester Road and Elliott Street were moving traffic free and the band and marchers didn't have to dodge any traffic. Well done to the local authority for arranging this. So, all told a good day all round, even the weather behaved itself.
