Tyldesley man Frank is happy to be proved wrong

THANK you Trevor Barton MBE and your hard-working and dedicated Pelican Group for securing the future of Tyldesley Baths.

Years ago, my wife, Pat, and I, along with leisure staff designed a plan that would have substantuially changed the pool making easy access for all disabled people. Later our recommendations were thrown out only to reappear at Leigh Sports Village and during the revamp of Hindley Pool.

At the time I said in the Journal that closing Tyldesley Baths was a fait accompli and for that reason resigned from the disabled committee.

Councillor Peter Smith denied this and said the matter would be reviewed in 2010.

Peter was right, I have on this happy occasion been proven wrong. I apologise!
