Bus lane will cause East Lancs Road chaos

I AM absolutely amazed that Salford Council has the absurd idea of putting a bus lane along the East Lancs Road from the Height roundabout all the way to Ellenbrook Road, Boothstown.

This will cause traffic mayhem for thousands of motorists twice daily. I travel into Manchester and back via the East Lancs Road every day as I live in Westhoughton.

Already in the past year travelling times have increased significantly due to the introduction of a bus lane from Salford University into Manchester which has also forced many motorists to go down Albion Way and other alternative routes into Manchester causing misery to everyone in the area. This new proposal will cause mile upon mile of standstill traffic along the East Lancs Road and alternative routes like the M60 and M602 and force thousands of workers to consider their employment due to the huge increase in travelling time that this proposal will cause.

And all for what? One or two buses every 10 minutes… I strongly object to this proposal. It is a great waste of time, effort, money. This ridiculous idea will also cause aggressive, careless and dangerous driving, depression and millions in lost working hours that will be spent waiting in traffic while a free lane of road will be sitting empty for the vast majority of the day and night.

Those who share my feelings should send their objections to the Director of Engineering, c/o Traffic Management and Control, 3rd Floor, Emerson House, Albert Street, Eccles, M30 0TE by January 26, 2012 (quoting reference TRO 1675).
