A small world for Leigh Navy men

THE recent photograph in the Journal of two service veterans recieving their lapel badges was of great interest to me.

In 1956 I was working in the radio and television trade in Leigh and for a short while worked with a young fellow called J Ward. I was then due for call up for national service so signed on in the Royal Navy.

I was sent to HMS Collingwood in Hampshire for basic training. During my 12 months at this location who should I come face to face with again but the same J Ward. Small world!

My question 56 years on is it the same J Ward?
