Love Island is back, but this time it isn’t celebrities hoping to meet Mr Right – a handful of non-famous women will be thrown together with a group of completely un-starry men to see if they can find a match made in Mallorca.
The group of contestants contestants will move into a villa together for the summer and sent packing until just two remain by the end of the series, a pair who will hopefully be a happy couple by then.
Let’s see who is following in the footsteps of past celebrity winners Jayne Middlemiss and Biance Gascoigne by joining Love Island.
Rachel Christie
Former athlete/model
26
Okay, not everyone involved has led a life away from the cameras – Rachel is Linford Christie’s niece and the first black woman to be crowned Miss England.
She said: “I’m a single mum and I never get out and meet anyone these days! I have a gorgeous four-year-old boy but I knew when I was five months pregnant that I was going to have to do it on my own. Dating is really tricky when you’ve got a kid! I don’t meet anyone.”
Lauren Richardson
Community sports officer
26
Umm… This one might have a little experience in the fame department, too. She was the blonde who engaged Zayn Malik was pictured with in Thailand shortly before quitting One Direction.
She said: “I met Zayn Malik in a nightclub in Thailand. It got blown out of all proportion. But that’s a long story…”
Zoe Basia Brown
Model
24
High fashion model Zosia has recently become a born again Christian and reckons she’s keen not to embarrass her priest or her mum on the island.
She said: “I’m a Christian and that is the number one thing in my life, so I can turn the other cheek. I started going to church two years ago. It’s the opposite to fashion and I love it because everyone is so nice. I’m not going to start giving sermons on the island, but it’s a big part of me.”
Hannah Elizabeth
Glamour model
25
Hannah is a Playboy Bunny, so she’s spent time hanging out with Hugh Hefner at the Playboy Mansion which means she’s used to sunshine, luxury and lounging around.
She said: “People think the mansion is a sexy place, but it’s nothing like that now. It’s like a little family and Heff is the sweetest man. He’s like your lovely little granddad. I’m a (boxing) ring girl on Sky Sports as well.”
Danielle Pyne
Marketing executive
23
Posh girl Danielle works in a private members club and likes to party with the Chelsea set, but says she struggles to meet potential dates.
She said: “I don’t really like dating. I’m a bit sick of the same old questions ‐ when someone asks where I’m from, I never know whether that means where I grew up or where I live.”
Jessica Hayes
Glamour model
22
The Gloucestershire model has been single for two years and describes Pamela Anderson and Megan Fox as her idols.
She said: “I’m very real and straight to the point. I think I’ve got good banter and I can be a bit mad at times, which I suppose makes me entertaining.
“Obviously I want to meet a man and hopefully a relationship will come from it, but if not it will be great to meet new people and just have a really great time.”
