WHEN Atherton couple Colin and Sylvia Mickleburgh celebrated their golden wedding they marked the occasion by donating £600 to charity.
Mr Mickleburgh, aged 73, and his wife, 71, joined family and friends for an anniversary lunch at Hemsley House, Salford, where guests included four bridesmaids from the original ceremony.
Their daughter Jeanette said: "They decided that rather than accept presents from guests they would seek small donations which would be donated to Scope and were astounded when they collected £600 for the charity."
The couple also have a son, Mark, and another daughter Patricia, who is Jeanette's twin sister. They have five grandsons and one granddaughter.
They married on Boxing Day 1962 at St John's Church, Walkden.
