CELEBRATED comedian John Coolie kept on laughing right to the end.

The 52-year-old entertainer died on Sunday with his three sons and immediate family by his bedside at his and his wife Sue’s home in Sutton.

John, whose real surname was Turner, had been suffering from leukaemia.

He was well known throughout the region for the zany comedy and magic double act he performed with Sue under the No Idea banner.

“He absolutely laughed and joked throughout his illness and was joking with the doctor on the morning of his death,” said Sue.

Originally from Parr, he went to Sutton Ash and Parr Central schools and worked at Ravenhead Laundry, Rainford Metals and Northgate.

He was also landlord of the Railway, in Parr, before becoming a full time entertainer.

In July 2011, he appeared on Lee Mack’s All Star Cast television show in an episode featuring Joan Collins.

John’s comedy act started off many moons ago when he began balloon dancing and 15 years ago he and Sue created their double act.

More than 500 people are expected to attend John’s funeral service.

It will be held at St Mary’s Lowe House RC Church, North Road, at 2.30pm, on Tuesday, February 4, followed by committal at St Helens Crematorium.
